Oh well, maybe I will give them a try in a unit sometime. I only just recently purchased my 2nd pair of them right before the new book came out. It really is too bad that you can’t take the 4 single eagles anymore. Also, you can give the eagles Armour Piercing and/or Always Strikes First upgrades. However, they can now be taken in units (if you so desire). It is also nice that you can still include 4 of them in a lower points list. The bolt throwers offer superior range and the utility of either the single shot with no armour save, or the multi-shot for more lightly armoured targets. At least the cheaper points cost makes their loss easier to deal with. It is unfortunate that they only have 2 Wounds, because they are extremely vulnerable to enemy ranged attacks. With a 48″ range and the only High Elf ranged weapon that can somewhat reliably penetrate armour, they are kind of a special unit. Since I never owned any bolt throwers before the switch to 8th edition, I haven’t used them before. The two choices from the old book have been joined by three new entries. Now we have reached the final section of the High Elf book. Other than that, what do you think? Does the effect work?
Hmm, I didn’t even notice until looking at the pictures that some of the green stuff is still showing! I guess there is some touch-up to do on the flames… I intentionally left the earth by them blackened to show that the earth had been scorched. The flames are crudely sculpted, but between that and the painting, I think that it gets the point across as to what it is. The thought with the base is that the phoenix is leaving a trail of fire behind it (like a Wake of Fire in its rules). When mounted on the base, I plan to have the tail of the phoenix very close to the ground. With that being said, I hope to get some work done on the Flamespyre once I can muster up the courage (and get some white primer). I thought that it was a bit sad that a blog names Flames of the Phoenix isn’t using a phoenix model at all. Let’s just say that I have had a change of heart since then. These same readers might also point out that I posted a tournament list recently, and there was not a phoenix in it. While the model is not competed (or even started at this point), I am sure that my astute readers will recognize that this is the base for a phoenix, and probably come to the conclusion that it is for a Flamespyre Phoenix and not a Frostheart. The Noble and his Griffon crushed six squigs but the remaining cave monstersīarely paused as they chomped the Elf and his rider to death.Over the weekend, I finally completed some hobby! It isn’t much, but it is a start. Mage's magical aura turned away the huge missile. The Rock Lobba was bang on target this time and launched a huge rockĭirectly at the Elf mage, but the cheers of the Orcs turned to groans as the
So he dropped them on the bridge just in front of the Swordmasters. Gork however only moved the Savage Orcs 10 inches (on 5 dice) Wounded one of his Night Goblin minions, which didn't bother him in the Huge Hand of Gork but overdid the spell and the resulting magical feedback The Great Shaman, finally being able to use his spells, called down a The chasm which divided the battlefield in two. Hadn't advanced quite so far on his own and the Orcs advanced towards The Squigs charged the Noble who suddenly began to wish that he Systems (at least for now) and nobody misbehaved as the greenskinsīelatedly tried to carry out the Warboss's battle plan. The Orcs and Goblins seemed to have got their animosity out of their I wasn't exactly confident going into this one. I however developed a plan (which mainly involved rushing my Savage Orcs and Squigs in the direction of the pansies with the Night Goblins and Arok running interference on the flanks) only to roll a huge chasm on the campaign terrain generation table! Again this was the worst set-up, I couldn't use horde formation and I would have to split my army in two to cover both bridges. I really put this army together hoping to chomp on some Stunties, but then I not only got High Elves with ASF but the only army with a dragon.there couldn't have been a worse line-up. The armies were distributed randomly with no-one knowing which foe they were going to face, so I designed the armies to defeat all-comers.but felt that as the action was taking place underground I really ought to take at least one big unit of Squig Herders. This battle was part of an ongoing campaign set in an abandoned Dwarf city with four armies (Orcs, Skaven, Dwarfs, High Elves) trying to (re)conquer the city.
